Posted by 昨天（美國時間7/4）是俗稱為美國國慶的獨立紀念日。聞史迭和其他朋友到附近的劇場欣賞舊金山交響樂團的煙火音樂會，其中樂團奏起美國三軍的進行曲時，各軍種的退伍老兵輪流從觀眾席站起來接受現場觀眾歡呼喝彩，真的是讓在場的聞史迭深深感到美國人民火熱的愛國之心。
說到美國人的愛國，就不得不提美國為數不少的愛國歌曲們。首先要介紹的，當然就是美國國歌本人啦。首先讓我們來欣賞由 Lady Gaga 在第五十屆的超級杯開場帶來的演唱。
其實這一段寫於英美「二次獨立戰爭」時期的 The Star-Spangled Banner ，共有四段歌詞，但是通常只會演唱其第一段歌詞。
Oh, say can you see by the dawn’s early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air,

這首被簡稱為「星條旗」曲子雖然是美國國歌（National anthem），但是可能是因為名字太相似的關係，常常被跟「進行曲之王」蘇莎（Sousa）所作的國家進行曲（National march） The Stars and Stripes Forever 搞混。其實這兩首曲子雖然名字相近，但是聽起來可是完全不一樣呢。
是否聽起來很耳熟呢？相信各位讀者一定有在記憶裡的某個場合聽過，可能是國小升旗的進場音樂，也有可能是某個遊樂園的旋轉木馬或者馬戲團音樂。尤其如果有參加過國小或國中管樂團的讀者，大概不會對這首蘇莎的代表作陌生。有趣的是，蘇莎的姓氏正好是 SO-USA，被趣稱為非常愛國的作曲家。
不過除了這首因為名字很類似而被搞混的國家進行曲之外，還有另一首愛國歌曲，似乎也很想找美國國歌的碴，那就是經常在大型活動或者運動賽事時演唱的 God Bless America。請欣賞由席琳狄翁帶來的演唱版本：

God Bless America 由於經常在公開場合被演唱，因此也常被誤會為是美國國歌。你以為就這樣完了嗎？不，還有一首 American The Beautiful 因為歌詞優美，且嚷嚷上口，和 God Bless America 同樣有第二國歌之稱。

For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America!
God shed His grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood

事實上一直有許多 American The Beautiful 的支持者想要推動「換歌」，把美國國歌改成這首。支持者的理由包括：旋律較為優美、更容易唱，還有正式國歌 The Star-Spangled Banner 的創作背景是在戰爭時期，因此歌曲不但有大量的戰爭寫照，還有仇視英軍的部分。這或許就跟許多台灣人認為中華民國國歌終究是中國國民黨黨歌，音樂課本硬要把「吾黨」解釋為「我們」一樣，有異曲同工之妙吧。
無論如何，欣賞了這麼多美國的愛國歌曲，其實自然也就不難想像，除了有強大的國力之外，還有這麼多可以琅琅上口的愛國歌曲，難怪美國人個個這麼愛國了。
